HUDCO has been an associate member of CITYNET since 1993, CITYNET is the largest association of urban stakeholders committed to sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. Established in 1987 with the support of UNESCAP, UNDP and UN-Habitat, the Network of cities has grown to include over 135 municipalities, NGOs, private companies and research centers. CITYNET connect actors, exchange knowledge and build commitment to establish more sustainable and resilient cities. Through capacity building, city-to-city cooperation and tangible projects, it helps members to respond to Climate Change, Disaster, the Sustainable Development Goals and rising infrastructure demands.

The CITYNET National Chapter-India was established on the 16th of December, 2013 with 13 member institutions and HUDCO as the lead institution for the National Chapter

The main functions of the national chapter include acting as the focal point for other CITYNET members in India, creating opportunities for National chapter members to discuss urban problems and allow for capacity-building, disseminating information related to CITYNET, as well as its publications and conducting various activities including seminars, workshops, study visits and training programmes at the local and national levels for the benefit of members, in consultation with the CITYNET Secretariat.
