Ms. Varsha Punhani is an architect-planner with over 33 years of experience in the areas of housing and infrastructure finance, architectural and planning consultancy services as well as research and capacity building. She has been the course coordinator for a number of MEA sponsored Training Programmes for overseas professionals, DoPT In-service training programme for Indian Administrative Service officers and Citynet Training Programme for middle and senior level ULB officials.

With extensive field experience garnered from significant roles in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, in addition to her tenure in the Corporate Office New-Delhi, Ms. Punhani brings to the table a vast field experience and understanding of grass root realities and challenges in implementation of housing and urban development projects. Her professional interests are diverse including pooled financing for funding infrastructural services, financial strengthening of ULBs and equitable, sustainable and resilient urban development. Some of the noteworthy projects that she has worked on include the Site Management Plan of Mahabodhi Temple Complex World Heritage Site, Tourist Circuit Plan for Buddhist sites and Cadastral and GIS based Development Plans for small and medium sized towns of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

Mr. Surendra Singhai has more than 37 years of experience in Housing & Urban Development Policy, Programme Formulations, Project Financing, Project Appraisal and Default Monitoring.

He has worked as Regional Business Head of HUDCO Regional Office of Raipur & Bhopal and was responsible for HUDCO’s operations in the state of Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. He has also worked in project consultancy and was associated in preparation of master plans.

Presently, he is General Manager in HSMI and looking after Training Programmes of Overseas Professionals sponsored by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) under ITEC. He has also coordinated Training Programmes of Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), NAREDCO, In-house Training Programmes & various ULB Programmes.

Ms. Poonam M Asthana has experience of over 35 years in Human Resource Management, Administration, and Estate Management. She has been involved in many policy decisions, welfare scheme for employees, legal issues pertaining to property of HUDCO and also been in-charge of the Parliamentary & Statistical Unit of HUDCO. Currently, at HUDCO’s HSMI, she is looking after HR and Administration as well as training programmes for in-house and external officials.

Mr. Saket Shrivastava is heading the Centre for Sustainable Habitat (CSH). He is a Civil Engineer with specialization in Environmental Engineering and has worked in various capacities at the Chandigarh, Bhopal, and Raipur Regional Offices of HUDCO. He has over 31 years of experience in the housing and urban development sector, especially in the financing of housing and infrastructure projects. Some of the prestigious projects that he has been involved in include the Development of Naya Raipur - the new capital of Chhattisgarh State and the Provision of Basic Infrastructure Services in ULBs of Punjab.

Ms. Neetu B Malhotra is an architect with specialisation in Urban Planning having work experience of over 24 years. She has worked as a Project Associate in Urban Planning Dept. of SPA-Delhi, RITES on New satellite township Project – Ranka, Gangtok and the Feasibility report of Rehabilitation Schemes for the MRTS project.

In HUDCO she has worked in the Design and Development Wing and has been actively involved in planning, design and coordination with services and engineering specialists, upto the construction stage in many projects. She has also worked on several projects in the field of office design, institutional and housing schemes, Tourist Development projects and preparation of DPRs for BSUP/IHSDP projects. Currently she is a faculty of Centre for Sustainable Habitat, HSMI and is coordinating the training programmes for in-house, ULBs and overseas professionals.

Mr. Deepak Kumar Jha is heading the Centre for Urban Poverty, Slums, and Livelihoods (CUP). As a Civil Engineer with more than 28 years of work experience in housing and urban development project formulation, financing, appraisal, monitoring, and default resolution, he has worked in HUDCO Regional Offices at Patna, Chennai, and Kolkata. Some of the prestigious projects he has handled include the 2X250 MW Barauni Thermal Power Plant Scheme at Barauni, Bihar, and JP Ganga Setu, Patna (popularly known as Marine Drive) in Patna, Bihar.

Mr. Atul Kumar Shrivastav is heading the Centre for Affordable Housing (CAH). He is an urban economist having more than 31 years of experience in the field of housing and urban development. He has earlier worked in Economic Policy Analysis Cell of HUDCO, before coming to HUDCO’s HSMI as Joint General Manager (Economics) and Fellow. Currently as a faculty in HSMI he is coordinating research activities in housing and urban infrastructure sectors, Training & Capacity Building activities for key stakeholders in the urban sector.
