ABOUT HUDCO DESIGN AWARDS
HUDCO, a Government of India CPSE, is a premier techno-financing Institution in the field of Housing
and Urban Development in India. Since its inception in 1970, HUDCO has played a leadership role in
shaping India’s urban development. HUDCO appreciates that the complex challenge of sustainable
development goes much beyond creation of housing stock and financing infrastructure. It
acknowledges the importance of design that respects the interconnectedness and interdependence
between places, regions and communities as well as between man and nature in shaping sustainable
development. Aligning with its overarching institutional objective of raising awareness about design as
an effective element for positive change and appreciate the innovative design interventions that have
been demonstrated by professionals, HUDCO instituted HUDCO Design Awards in 2012.
OBJECTIVE OF THE AWARD
• To encourage professionals (Architects, Engineers, Urban Planners and other allied professionals) to
be more creative and provide out of the box solutions.
• To use creative design for improving the living environment in our cities.
• To document/ showcase the best practices with possibility of replication and scalability.
• To sensitize the decision makers/ stakeholders regarding utility & applicability of innovative designs

There are mainly 5 categories in HUDCO Design Awards ( Details enclosed)
• Cost Effective Rural/Urban Housing deploying Innovative / Emerging & Disaster Resistant Technology
• New & Innovative Design Solutions for Towns & Cities
• Conservation of Heritage
• Green Buildings
• Landscape Planning & Design
ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to all professionals (Architects/ Engineers/ Planners and other allied
professionals) who are engaged in the development and design of urban and regional places, buildings,
neighbourhoods or cities. The award is limited to completed/ under execution projects within the last
seven years (Jan.2017- Dec.2023). The applicants would be required to give documents supporting their
claim.
SCHEDULE
1. Receipt of Entries: Completed entries should reach HUDCO by 29.01.2024. Regarding General
guidelines, Submission requirements and evaluation of Entries, please refer details enclosed. Same
are available on HUDCO website also.
2. Announcement and Presentation of Award: The results of the competition will be hosted on
HUDCO website. The winners will be communicated detail of award distribution subsequently.

AWARD: Two prizes in each category: First Prize: Rs 2.00 lacs Second Prize: Rs 1.00 lac
