Shelter is amongst the three basic human needs. The Govt.

of India has recently taken major initiatives to provide a boost

to affordable housing in the country. The target of achieving

sufficient mass affordable housing in the country can be achieved
using cost effective, emerging innovative technologies

without compromising the quality and structural stability of

the structure. It is essential to promote these technologies
pertaining to the local conditions and environment.

It would entail preparation of efficient layout designs
and building plans suitable for various disaster resistant

technologies so that the precious investment in housing is not

lost to the occurrence of natural disasters like earthquake,
flood or cyclone. The skills and efficiencies demonstrated

by the professionals with regard to the same need to be

appreciated and showcased for its suitable adaptation.
