Urbanization is inevitable and desirable but throws many

challenges. For cities to be engines of growth, they

need to be vibrant, sustainable, inclusive and appropriate

to the specific demographic, cultural, functional and

physiographic demand of the people and the place.

It is imperative that we create futuristic smart cities and

upgrade degenerated urban spaces to become centers

providing opportunities to the aspiring Indians without

compromising the tenets of sustainable development.
