RESPONSE TO URBAN CONTEXT

The Vegetable Market connects the plaza and the central
market to the street, making it accessible to people of all
abilities. The market is designed as a simple open structure
consisting of two blocks each with the central steel canopy.
It extends beyond the building edge to accommodate informal
street vendors towards the street edge.

In the central market the ground floor is dedicated for vegetable
vendors while the floors above are reserved for retail shops.
The canopy design is an elegant triangulated system of steel
sections that supports a light roof with intermediate translucent
polycarbonate sheets letting light in.
