CONCLUSION
The drawing exercise helped
to understand the housing
aspirations of women
in Perumbakkam. This
understanding is crucial not
only for policy makers to design
targeted policies which fulfil
people’s needs in housing,
but also for designers of
resettlement projects who need
to consider such needs, adapt
their practice to the reality of the
people, especially of women and
children, and replace the “one
size fits all” mentality.
