Restored David Sassoon Library facing the Kala Ghoda Art District - A gem in the Victorian & Art Deco UNESCO WHS
             HISTORIC STREETSCAPE RECONSTRUCTED

There was thus irrefutable and clear evidence that the concrete slab was a later intervention and that the reading room was
originally covered with a pitched roof and had a stone gable wall with polychromatic stone masonry and arched profile of
             windows on the gable end.

The restoration of the original sloping roof profile of David Sassoon Library and Reading Room has restored the historic
streetscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The new roof has also transformed the spatial quality of the interiors
complimenting the Victorian aesthetics of the building that had been marred by the 1960s intervention of the flat slab.
Sensitive conservation practices were used while restoring the building to conserve the original building fabric and retain the
             authenticity of the design.
