THE BENGAL ROWING CLUB & THE GREEN
BUILDING CERTIFICATION.
Bengal Rowing Club is an Indian Green Building Council
(IGBC) - Platinum rated and LEED (platinum rated) building.
The building has a rainwater harvesting tank, Solar PV cells
which feed power into the building, green practices like water
metering, proper waste segregation through separate bins,
use of Double glazing Unit (DGU) glass panels, energy efficient
light fixtures and use of heat reflective tiles.
The green space of the lawn acts as a natural water trapping
area, thus refilling the aquifer level. Though being a flat roofed
structure, it has proper drainage system and slopes for
relieving the water. The exterior paints and cladding used in
the building are water resistant in nature. Design elements
such as pergolas and louvered cabanas create open and semi
open spaces with the levels of the building been thoughtfully
worked upon, keeping the local water level in consideration.
