The city of Bhopal undulates on a vast lake spanning several square miles, which dominates its landscape and
gives it a magnetic, mesmerizing quality. This sparkly contrasting cityscape creates a healing and peaceful
atmosphere for the senior citizens. The city of lakes promises a harmonious environment for a Senior 7.4%

Adult abuse has forced senior citizens to find an
alternative shelter. In Bhopal, as compared to the
main metropolitan cities, the rate of physical and
emotional abuse is very high. Moreover, other
aspects of mistreatment are comparable. If not
abusing, then the reason for living alone due
to no child support, employed children or their
deteriorating health has led them towards the
search, for a better environment. The percentage
of abuse in Bhopal is high therefore, tackling it
has become the top priority.
With reference to the statistics, the elevating
demographics of the physical, emotional and
economical abuse and the neglect towards the
senior citizens in Bhopal, demands for a better
habitat for the elderly.

REASONS FOR LIVING ALONE

SITE POTENTIAL
The site has been proposed as residential in the master
plan of Bhopal. The minimal vegetation, connectivity to all
transportation networks, proximity to AIIMS, contribute
to the key features of the site. The police station assures
security, market renders basic amenities, schools prevent
visual isolation, thus raising the potential bar of the site.
NEED OF DEVELOPMENT
The site lies in the prime location, classified in the
residential zone and facilitates its connection to various
basic amenities necessary for a senior citizens’ habitat.
even after having a direct effect on the core areas of the
city, the site has been left deserted. The proximity of the
site with the major highways and the main road gives the
site an eminent visual connection.
