On the ground floor, the bustling new center serves as a community center
where seniors can relax, catch up with friends and neighbors, play pool,
could order food or coffee and talk. Based on local community, the building
incorporates a wide range of african-inspired architectural elements.
Inference
1. A design inspired from the residing community.
2. A community centre that is open for all promotes interaction with local people.
3. Vegetable gardening keeps people connected to nature.
Park Side Retirement Home
Location: Bangalore, India
Program was to address requirements for senior
citizens such as wide corridors, doors for wheel
chair movement, grab bars in corridors and
bathrooms, a place to rest tired limbs and a place
to keep shopping bags near the door. Uniqueness of
the project lies in reinterpreting the idea of a
single club house.
The activity spaces are distributed vertically on each floor. A visual connection
is shared across different levels through a central atrium with a skylight.
Inference
1. Each floor has an activity that keeps every floor active.
2. Naturally lit atrium space with help of skylight.
3. Strategic massing that visually lowers down the scale.
